The Train

The lights flicker on the train, everyone looks around
There is nothing we can do, the lights and we are temporarily powerless

Two men sleep in their seats, mouths opened wide
No snoring, no dignity, no awareness, just exhaustion

Everyone doing there own thing, iPhones, iPads, iPods and Kindles
Books, notebooks, newspapers, coffee and magazines, no conversation

A sad lonesome journey in a distracted crowd
As I write this, in silence, on my iPhone, on a train

These last weeks I was invited back to work in Philly on a huge project at my favorite Philly Newspaper Group.  It was great to see my old friends and make some new ones, got a lot of things done and had some fun!  Thanks for the opportunity and the great time!

Perhaps you should hand out “Friendly Suggestions” eye masks.
