I love vintage Pyrex. I love how much thought used to go into patterns and colors. How housewives could coordinate a set for every occasion. Now we’re all about being clean and modern and Pyrex is crankin’ out clear glass bowls and containers. Functional, yes… but I like pretty, too.
I have been collecting vintage Pyrex for the last year or so. For my birthday this year, my friend got me this awesome little cabinet, with sliding glass doors, for displaying some of my favorites. I topped it with an Ikea painting that I’ve had for years and um, more Pyrex (surprise!). There’s also my favorite pitcher and a silly container with some treats in it that I keep up high so it’s more of a challenge. Hmph.
The cabinet, in all its glory, looks like this:
Can you identify the prints? I only know some of them. My sister got me a few Early American pieces (a refrigerator dish and a small bowl) to match my favorite small cinderella bowl. Though I’m not sure if what I started with is a cindarella bowl. You can see it in the lefthand section with the Amish Butterprint bowls. What the heck is it? It’s like a casserole, but the sides are very round. It’s basically a round bowl with small handles. Thoughts?
As a side note, my favorite Pyrex is usually just on display. For cooking and baking, I tend to only use my bowls and containers that have more wear and more common prints. Good idea?
Oh! Another piece I want to share because to me, it’s brand spankin’ new. As a late birthday gift, my friend Maria got me this great bowl she had found on a recent trip!
I’ve always wanted one of these! And it’s in such good condition!
You guys are too good to me. I’m gonna need a second kitchen soon. Or at least an extra wall.
