Buttered Dreams

This page is about the funny comments, interesting questions and creative answers from a toddler. Our son, Emerson, gave us the name for this page as he finished singing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” ending with the line, “life is buttered dreams.”

As an older father, who has started a second family, I thought this would be the perfect time to document, in pictures and quotes, some of our son’s response to life as it unfolds around him. We’ve spent a lot of time laughing and smiling at the things he does and says.
During this process I am grateful for my son’s patience. I thank him for his patience in  showing me how to become a good father and a better person.

Life is a minute. Enjoy what is in front of you.

Opinion from the Shelf

Lying on a shelf in the pantry, dad asks Emerson who he wants to win the World Series: The Phillies or the Yankees. His reply: “The Dooooogers.”

The Cat
Dad: “Emerson! Why are you tormenting the cat?”
Emerson: “I don’t know. It’s something inside me.”

Picking Up Toys

Mom: “Emerson! Why did you dump your toys all over the floor?”

Emerson: “…… because I love you.”

Peter Tobia is a photographer and father of Emerson they are based in Philadelphia.
