Eagles’ 2010 Schedule: Not Many “Automatics” on this One…

Okay, just ONE! A new era of Eagles’ football is upon us. Kevin Kolb will be taking over as the starting Quarterback and the offense is loaded with young, talented players. But to say this year will be a major test for this team is an understatement. One thing is for certain, we will see what they’re made of.

Of the 16 regular season games, only 3 games are against teams who had under 7 wins in 2009 and 2 of those games are against the Washington Redskins, who many suspect will be much improved with former Eagle, Donovan McNabb taking snaps. The rotating NFL schedule has the Birds matched up with teams from the AFC South and the NFC North. The AFC South features the defending AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts, the Tennessee Titans, who were 4-0 vs. the NFC last year, the Houston Texans, who many feel are on the verge of their first ever Playoff berth, and the Jacksonville Jaguars, who always seem to play the Eagles tough. The NFC North features the only “automatic” on the schedule, the Detroit Lions. It also features the Minnesota Vikings, who will be a SuperBowl favorite if/when Brett Favre returns, the Chicago Bears, and the Playoff tested Green Bay Packers. The other 2 NFC teams the Birds will face will be the San Fransisco 49ers, who will be a favorite to win the NFC West and the Atlanta Falcons, who finished the ’09 season at 9-7 despite several key injuries during the season. And on top of this, the Eagles will face Division rivals, the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, a total of 4 times in their last 7 games! WOW!

I’m excited! I can’t wait for September 12th to get here. I can’t wait to see how Kevin Kolb and the offense responds. The schedule this coming year will only help this Eagles team grow. After years of dominating the NFC East, the Eagles have won only 1 Division title since the 2004 Season, the year they made the SuperBowl. I’m confident THIS team will be ready to get the Franchise back on track as the decade begins. This is a new team and a new era. Let’s Go Birds!
